About the Program
Bond techniques
The teenage years are times of transition. The space between childhood and adulthood can often be confusing and distancing from what a teen has previously known. Bonding activities for teens either between one another or family members can help teens keep a sense of stability in life as they grow from child to adult.
Overcoming Peer Pressure
Teen peer pressure can be extremely damaging to a pre-teen or teen who is desperately trying to fit in somewhere –anywhere– among kids their age. They are not sure which group they belong in, and those who are suffering with low self esteem can end up fitting more comfortably with less than desirable peers. This can be the beginning of a downward spiral. When a child doesn’t have confidence in who they are or where they belong, it can lead to the place that is easiest to fit in. Sometimes that is not with the best crowd.
Self Identification
Self-esteem is a major key to success in life. The development of a positive self-concept or healthy self-esteem is extremely important to the happiness and success of children and teenagers. This program will share the basics for helping kids and teens to improve their self-esteem.
Coaching Sessions
As a student, you’ve got academics, athletics, extracurricular, community service, friends and family, all competing for your time, energy and attention. There is literally something to do during every waking moment of the day. How do you handle it all? Our coaching helps you not only handle it but master it. With your coach, you find your own solutions to the challenges you face. You’ll learn to find the balance in your life that you’ve been looking for.
Reflective Techniques
Taking action, making change, experiencing new adventures... these are awesome reasons to get out and do something. But the richness of the experience, the learning from the experience, these are equally important if we are going to transform society through action. Reflection is integral to learning, because it helps us build self-awareness, strengthen personal and team growth, and improves our action for the next time.
Our methods support the development of creative experience that aids in the outcome of:
- Development of goal-directed behavior.
- Decreased involvement in gangs, violence, and teen sexual activity.
- Increased GPA and school attendance.
- Increased self worth and self-esteem.
- Increased sense of family, peer and community support.
- A shift in attitude and behavior from being a victim to taking responsible actions.
